Arjo is born in 1945 at Vlaardingen in the Netherlands. He received his first lessons as a child from his brother. His brother was a ballet pianist as well. On this way Arjo was already early in contact with the profession of dance. In those days he was 14 years old and he beacame his first church organ lesson. He accompanied also already rythmic gymnastic lessons. An job as an organist in the St. Willibrordus church at Vlaardingen he gots on the age of 18 years.

After to be a music teacher at secondary education and having his own music school he went working in 1984 as a ballet pianist at the SKVR at Rotterdam. In 1986, he started accompanying at the Rotterdam Dance Academy.
Arjo has retired since 1 oktober 2004 at the SKVR and since 1 december 2006 at the Rotterdam Dance Academy.
